The Command Bar ⌘E

No menus. No dialogs. No learning curve. Just say what you mean.

How it works

• Press ⌘E from any view to open the command bar
• Type a command in plain language — "move my dentist to Thursday, flag it, and remind me the day before"
• AgenToDo shows a preview of every change it will make
• Approve or reject. Nothing happens until you say so.

Voice input

Tap the mic and speak. Same preview, same approval — just hands-free.

Selection-aware

Select tasks first, then command. "Flag these." "Move them to next week." "Add a due date." The command bar knows what you're working with.

Multi-action

One sentence can trigger multiple changes. "Move my dentist to Thursday, flag it, and remind me the day before" — that's three changes from one command. Each one previewed individually.

Autocomplete

The command bar remembers what you've typed before. Press ↑ and ↓ to recall previous commands. It also suggests vocabulary as you type — press Tab to accept a suggestion, Enter to run.

"What now?"

Not sure what to work on next? Type "what now" in the command bar. AgenToDo picks a single task from your list and tells you why — based on due dates, priorities, energy level, and what you've been putting off. One recommendation, one reason. Enough to get unstuck.

AI Triage

Your inbox has 47 items. You captured them quickly. Now they need a home.

Tell AgenToDo to "sort my inbox." It looks at each item and suggests a project, tags, and a due date. You review the suggestions in batch — approve, tweak, or skip each one.

Bulk processing for captured items. What used to take twenty minutes takes two.

AI Enrichment ⌘Return

Select a task. Press ⌘Return.

AgenToDo suggests improvements: a clearer title, relevant tags, the right project, a reasonable due date. Not quite right? Press ⌘Return again — it cycles through three different phrasings (standard, detailed, minimal) rather than repeating itself. Changed your mind entirely? Press Escape right after to undo the enrichment completely.

Works on a single task or a selection. Select five vague tasks, hit ⌘Return, and get five specific ones back.

AI provenance

Any task the AI touched shows an AI provenance footer in the inspector: the source, a timestamp, which fields were written, and a confidence rating. Expand it for details. You always know what the AI did — and what it didn't.

User Instructions

Make the AI match your style. Whatever you write in Settings → AI → User Instructions is injected into every AI prompt — preferred language, note length, checklist conventions, anything.

Guided Review

"Guide my weekly review."

AgenToDo walks through each project step by step. It surfaces stale projects you haven't touched in weeks. Flags overdue items. Points out projects with no next action — the ones that quietly die if nobody's watching.

You still make every decision. The AI just makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. Weekly reviews go from something you skip to something you finish.

AI Scheduling

"Schedule this task."

AgenToDo reads your calendar, finds free slots, respects your focus blocks and existing events, and suggests an optimal time. Also available through ScheduleTaskIntent for Shortcuts integration.

You see the suggestion. You approve or pick a different slot. The task gets a time block on your calendar.

Morning Briefing

A daily notification that opens a window showing your day at a glance.

Tasks due today. Calendar events. How loaded your schedule is. AI-generated insights — like noticing you've pushed the same task three days in a row, or that your afternoon is wide open for deep work.

You choose the time. Off by default — AgenToDo offers to enable it once you have 15+ tasks, because that's when a morning overview starts to matter. Mac only.

How It Works

No mystery. Here's what's behind the AI features.

• Powered by Setapp AI+ — sign in with your Setapp account to activate AI features
• Preview before execution — every AI-suggested change is shown to you before it happens. The AI never acts without your approval.
• On-demand only — AI activates when you ask. When you invoke an AI action, the relevant task text plus a summary of your projects, tags, and free calendar blocks is sent to produce the response. Nothing is sent until you press an AI button — no background analysis of your database, ever.
• Grounded in your data — the pipeline validates that suggested projects, tags, and people actually exist in your database, and drops anything invented — with a warning when it does
• The right response shape — the agent picks what fits your request: a task list, a change proposal, a plan, a clarifying question, or a plain chat reply. Proposals always require your approval.
• Apple Foundation Models — built on on-device models when available, keeping processing local where possible

Without AI

AgenToDo is a complete, free task manager. Every perspective, every keyboard shortcut, every feature works without AI.

AI makes it faster. That's all. It's acceleration, not dependency.
