Perspectives
Perspectives are how AgenToDo shows you the right tasks at the right time. Each one is a different lens on your work — optimized for a specific moment, mindset, or GTD phase. You don't need all of them. But together, they cover everything.
📥 Inbox
What it shows: Every unclarified item you've captured — tasks, ideas, notes — in one undifferentiated pile. Nothing is organized yet. That's the point.
When to use it: During your daily processing session. Open Inbox, work through each item top-to-bottom, and decide: do it, defer it, delegate it, file it, or trash it. The goal is Inbox Zero — not as a productivity fetish, but because an empty inbox means everything has been clarified.
GTD connection: The "In" tray — David Allen's universal capture bucket. Nothing should live here permanently. If it's still in Inbox, it hasn't been processed yet.
All task kinds land here: tasks, ideas, and notes. AI triage is available to help you sort faster. From the CLI, agentodo inbox process runs an interactive single-key triage session — one item at a time, rapid-fire decisions.
⭐ Today
What it shows: Tasks due today and calendar events, side by side. A commitment meter tells you whether your day is realistic or overloaded. An "Ideas to revisit" section surfaces ideas with revisit dates matching today.
When to use it: First thing in the morning and throughout the day. This is your cockpit — the single screen that answers "what am I doing right now?" If the commitment meter is red, you have more work than hours. Cut something or move it.
GTD connection: The Engage phase. You've captured, clarified, organized, and reflected. Now you're doing the work. Today is where execution happens.
📅 Forecast
What it shows: What's coming this week and beyond — tasks and events together on a timeline. You see deadlines approaching, events stacking up, and can spot trouble before it arrives.
When to use it: During planning sessions — Sunday evening, Monday morning, or whenever you need to look ahead. Forecast helps you distribute work across days before it becomes urgent.
GTD connection: The Reflect phase. GTD says to regularly review what's on your plate and what's coming. Forecast makes that effortless.
🚩 Flagged
What it shows: Every flagged item across all projects — tasks, ideas, and notes. One flat list of the things you've explicitly marked as important.
When to use it: When you need to focus on what matters most. Flagging is a lightweight way to elevate items without rearranging your entire system. Check this view when you have time and want to tackle high-impact work.
GTD connection: Your "hot list." GTD doesn't have a native concept of flagging, but most practitioners keep a short list of their most important active items. This is that list.
⏳ Waiting On
What it shows: Delegated items with people assigned. Every task where someone else is the bottleneck — and you need to track it.
When to use it: During your daily or weekly review. Scan the list: has anything gone stale? Does someone need a nudge? This perspective prevents things from falling through the cracks just because they're not in your court.
GTD connection: The "Waiting For" list — one of GTD's most underrated tools. Every time you delegate or are blocked by someone else, it goes here. Review it weekly. Follow up ruthlessly.
👁️ Review
What it shows: A guided weekly review wizard that walks six steps — weekly, project, perspective, process, goal, reflection. Each step includes coaching text that tells you exactly what to focus on and why, so you never wonder "what should I check next?" A built-in Reflect entry point lets you pause mid-review for deeper thinking about what's working and what isn't.
When to use it: Weekly. Ideally Friday afternoon or Sunday evening — whenever you carve out 15–30 minutes to look at everything. AgenToDo will proactively nudge you: if it's Friday afternoon, if it's been 7+ days since your last review, or if you have 5+ stale tasks building up.
GTD connection: The Weekly Review — the single most critical habit in GTD. David Allen calls it the "critical success factor" for the whole system. Without it, your lists decay. With it, you trust your system completely. The guided coaching walks you through each of the six steps so the review feels structured, not overwhelming. AI-guided review is also available to make the process faster and more thorough.
📅 Calendar
What it shows: Day, Week, and Month views with a full hour grid. Your events and time-blocked tasks appear on the same timeline. A red "now" indicator shows where you are in the day.
When to use it: For time-blocking and schedule management. Drag to create new tasks directly on the grid. Drag existing tasks onto time slots to block out when you'll work on them. Use Calendar Sets to scope which calendars are visible, and configure Working Hours to define your available time.
GTD connection: The "hard landscape" — Allen's term for the non-negotiable, time-specific commitments in your day. Calendar shows you what's fixed so you can make smart choices about what's flexible.
Time-blocking tip: Drag a task from any perspective onto the Calendar to reserve time for it. This creates a visual commitment on your schedule and prevents meetings from consuming your entire day.
📍 Nearby
What it shows: Location-aware tasks. Items relevant to your current location surface automatically — errands near the grocery store, tasks for the office, things to do at home.
When to use it: When you're out and about. AgenToDo uses geofenced Places with arrive/depart reminders, so you get notified when you're near a relevant location. Set up your frequent places once, tag tasks with locations, and Nearby does the rest.
GTD connection: Contexts by location. GTD originally used contexts like @office, @errands, @home to filter tasks by where you can do them. Nearby automates this with actual location — your context switches as you move through the world.
🔁 Changed
What it shows: Recently modified items, newest first — edits from you, from collaborators on shared projects, and from your other devices.
When to use it: Right after a sync, or when you come back to a shared project and want to know what moved while you were away. One glance answers "what just changed?" without hunting through projects.
GTD connection: Trust in the system requires knowing it reflects reality. Changed gives you a quick audit trail so nothing shifts under your feet unnoticed.
🙋 Assigned to Me
What it shows: Tasks assigned to you across all shared projects, in a single consolidated view.
When to use it: When you want a quick answer to "what do other people need from me?" — without opening each shared project individually. Pair this with Waiting On to see both sides of delegation: what you owe others, and what others owe you.
✅ Completed
What it shows: Your archive of done work. Everything you've completed, searchable and browsable.
When to use it: When you need to look back — finding that task you finished last week, reviewing your output during a weekly review, or just appreciating how much you've accomplished. Toggle the "Done" filter in search to include completed items in any query.
🔍 Search & Quick Open
